Kat Von D Sephora Beranice Lipstick

Back in late May – early June I was gifted a lipstick from the Kat Von D Sephora line in Beranice. I don’t know why I hadn’t blogged about it, especially since I really like it!!! I hadn’t heard too much about their lipsticks and wasn’t sure what to expect from it and yay I’m happily surprised!

Beranice Lipstick – Kat Von D

Isn’t it such a pretty color and the packaging rocks! I love that I can see the color from below; sometimes you just forget which lipstick is which, especially if you have 10s of them. Being able to just know what color it is without removing the cap is great! This Kat Von D lipstick is matte but has some shimmer to it, however it’s subtle and both work and night out appropriate. The Beranice is a metallic poppy red as per described by the Sephora site, and I completely agree and it belongs to the Foiled Love Lipstick line, which also includes other colors, such as Adora, Forever & Never, F.T.W., Oh My Goth, and Valentine.

Here’s me right after applying. =P And yes that is a Venom piggy bank in the background. Bahah

Right after applying I realized I hadn’t had my morning  breakfast, which consists of yogurt and thought ‘crap!’ and then ‘duh, this lipstick doesn’t get messed up after eating!’ – It really doesn’t, of course some comes off but not enough to where your lips look washed out, it basically seems as though none came off. Isn’t that awesome?! Greatly pigmented; I loves!

Smashbox Legendary Lipstick

Smashbox Legen – wait for it – dary Lipstick. Haha ok that’s not the real name; it’s just “Legendary,” but I actually only bought if for 2 reasons a. you can’t have enough red lipstick and b. it’s called legendary! (How I Met Your Mother) HIMYM fan!

Anyway my little readers, I just can’t get enough red lipstick in my possession, I mean can you!? No, right? That’s what I thought.

Legendary Lipstick by Smashbox

I love the casing and component it comes in; classyyyy. It’s somewhat of a soft touch case that clearly reads smashbox on one side of case and when open the tube has chrome colored shelling. The actual lipstick is a creamy pinkish red rather than true red as you can see in the image below. Smashbox’s legendary is a very creamy lipstick almost gloss like and easily covers up the lips without too much product. My only worry is in hot weather, will it melt easily too? I will find out I’m sure, but I hope never to forget it in the car! I personally enjoy how creamy it is, due to what I’ve mentioned in previous posts about how dry my skin and lips can get; matte doesn’t really flatter me the way creamy lipsticks do.

Legendary Lipstick Swatch

It’s funny how the Legendary lipstick looks a little more orangy than does the swatch does, the pay off is a bit deceiving, but I prefer pinkier colors and the images I saw of it on the Sephora site were more true to color as well as the image provided by the Smashbox Cosmetics site. Excuse the funny shape of the stick, I promise Smashbox lipsticks don’t look like that, I dropped it and it dented it! Such a clutz I am. I almost knew this would happen and was weary of taking this picture, but I wasn’t getting any other good shots so I went for it. The things I do for you guys! Haha! I kid-I kid.

Well my dears, I wish you a very awesome Friday and a very wonderful Holiday weekend!

Stila Long Wear Lip Color

Stila is usually known for it’s glosses, but I gotta say I really like their Long Wear Lip Color. They carry it in 14 shades! That’s pretty crazy. I only own one, for now, eventually will be picking up other colors. When I first got it some months ago I happened to have a discount code and picked it out to try it. I like that a. it’s not a gloss and b. it’s not as bulky as lipsticks tend to be regardless of being taller and c. it’s retractable like lipstick should be..

Serenade Shade

The shade above is the one I happen to own myself. Below are all the shade colors you could imagine. I love that there is such a huge selection. Now which should we get next kiddies?! It’s a soft creamy formula that easily slides on to the lips.

Stila Long Wear Lip Color Shades

Now I know the color looks orangie on the image 1, but check it out on me! You can’t always base it on how it looks on the casing. Colors change when they are on you based on your complexion. Some colors are beautiful, but once you have it on it could really wash you out or surprise you and look amazing on!

Serenade on me.

Girl About Town and Russian Red

Hello all!

I hope everyone has had a good week thus far! So what do I have in store for you today? Well some of you my recognize the names that I used for the title of this blog, but for those of you who don’t Girl About Town and Russian Red are two MAC lipsticks that are quite popular with those of us who shop with MAC.

Let me start off with Russian Red and why I bought it. I am personally really into the pinup style. Red lips are an icon of the 1940s and 50s era along with a simple winged eyeliner. Typically I do not use red lipstick as it is only flattering on me when my hair is dark and usually I keep it red, or some gradient of it. Recently I dyed my hair back to black, which is suiting for winter, especially since I become quite pale during the colder season, although I do not live in a very relatively cold area. I thought how perfect, now that my hair is dark and my skin is more of a porcelain olive tone than a tanned olive the red will look great again. Usually I would just buy red lipsticks from places such as Rite Aid and Walgreens, but this time I thought why not get the famous Russian Red.

My results were ok, nothing spectacular. Not that I was expecting something special persay, but I was a bit disappointed. You see I tend to have very dry lips year round and I usually find that lipstick is what best suits me aside from chapsticks and lip balms meant for dry lips.

Russian Red on Me

Russian Red (MAC)

As you see my lips look quite dry and almost irritated, based on the fact that the lipstick is red and not in fact because they are. It wasn’t a smooth application as I am accustomed to with other MAC lipsticks that I owned, which surprised me a bit. I love the color though and it is perfect for when I am dressed in the 40s and 50s style, which is 90% of the time, but to make it look as I like I do use some sort of chapstick or lip balm before applying it. I would also recommend applying a bit of gloss on top if you so choose. I seldom use gloss but because MAC carries a lipglass of the same color scheme it would be a nice touch on to coat over the lipstick a little.

For as many pictures as I took, I could not get it right, but this color is wonderful! I love everything about GAT. I believe it suits most if not all complexions and that it is appropriate year round. It comes on the lips quite smoothly, as I expected, without using any sort of base. For the purposes of this blog post I didn’t use anything prior to applying the lipsticks, but as you can see from the pictures I do in fact have quite broken chapped lips. It usually looks even better that this and most of the time it is my go to lipstick. I tell everybody about it since I first started using it this past summer. I was getting ready for a presentation and my friend and group member let me borrow it and since then I fell in love. I say if you don’t have it GO GET IT NOW!

Some other brands I use are Ulta, Revlon, Josie Maran…etc…

What brands and colors do you prefer and or recommend?
